The Deinonychus had many appearances in the Dino-Riders cartoon and was apparently popular enough to have both a Rulon and Dino-Rider version. The actual production piece varies slightly from the pre-production photo in that the pre-production photo showed a solid colored light brown dinosaur, whereas the production model had a darker brown color with dark stripes running down its back. The only difference between this piece and the Rulon Deinonychus is that this piece had dark blue stripes and the Rulon version had dark brown stripes. This difference was less noticeable once the weapons were put on.
