TOYS - Dinosaurs - Pterodactyl

The Pterodactyl was one of the smaller pieces in the Dino-Riders line. It was a very simple piece, including only a small glider mechanism with two small rockets. The Pterodactyl would later see some variations as the line progressed. Most notable was the completely re-done paint job that was included in the Dino-Riders fan club package. Those fortunate enough to send away for the Dino-Riders membership got treated to an all-new brown and orange paint job as opposed to the standard light gray version. The Pterodactyl would also undergo a name change when it was re-released in the Smithsonian Institution and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs lines.

Dinosaur Variant: A variation of the Pterodactyl was produced and was available exclusively to members of the Dino-Riders fan club. The toy was identical except that the variant had a bright orange and dark brown color scheme instead of the standard gray and light brown color scheme. The fan club package only included the dinosaur and did not include any weapons or a figure.

Figure Variant 1: A fair number of Pterodactyls (presumably the ones from the earlier production runs) were packaged with an “adult” version of the Llahd figure. The “adult” version had the exact same body type and head as the standard Yungstar figure and its color scheme was virtually identical to the standard “adolescent” Llahd figure.

Figure Variant 2: The eyes on the Llahd figure that is included with the Japanese version of the Dino Riders Pterodactyl are painted black instead of the standard light blue.
